HOT FOR COLD
Three winter trends that I’m obsessed with at the moment –
#1: THE VELVET SHOE
Velvet has been a long-standing winter favorite, but this season saw a new twist – velvet shoes!
I recently scored these 70′s-inspired crushed velvet platform boots at Urban Outfitters, now only $34.99 (orig. $79)!
Other popular alternatives include smoking slippers, heels, wedges, and even combat boots.
Try a jewel tone like emerald or cranberry for a festive winter look, similar to the ones shown below.

#2: QUILT IT
No longer an exclusive trademark for vintage Chanel handbags, the quilted look has become the latest rage in outerwear, accessories, and shoes. My personal favorite is the classic Hunter wellies with the quilted shaft – adorable! This season, designers such as Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez (of Proenza Schouler) apply this concept to everyday wear, including this casually chic navy dress from the latest Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

#3: THE HIGH/LOW MAXI
This is a new silhouette which updates the popular maxi skirt in a subtly sexy way. Pair with a chunky oversized sweater, sheer patterned tights, and booties – voilà.
Featured in this set: UNIF Get It leopard skirt, Reverse cutout dress, Lucca Couture high/low skirt.
